Hi,

I have a philips hue light bulb that i'm trying to connect but when i run a ZDO_SIMPLE_DESC_REQ i get a Not-Active as response which doesn't let me get what type of device it is.

Its strange that I don't see ZDO_SIMPLE_DESC_REQ in your sniffer log but your device sends Simple Descriptor Response. Can you elaborate how you send ZDO_SIMPLE_DESC_REQ?

Solution: Philips Hue Light Bulb has endpoint 0x0b not 0x01

I am not sure if you hard code endpoint when you send ZDO_SIMPLE_DESC_REQ to Philips Hue Light Bulb. I would suggest you to do active endpoint request to get endpoint list of Philips Hue Light Bulb before you send ZDO_SIMPLE_DESC_REQ

Yes, the endpoint was hardcoded to 0x01. I now fixed it using ZDO_ACTIVE_EP_REQ before sending anything.

But i have a curiosity: looking at the sniffed traffic, what does Data Request represent?

Every NWK_LINK_STATUS_PERIOD seconds (default 15) a routing device (including the coordinator) sends out the current link cost between neighbor devices. 1 is the best, 7 is the worst, and 0 is broken/non-existent. This helps with establishing synchronous links and creating routes.

When you set a DEFAULT_KEY in SysConfig it ends up being stored to ZCD_NV_PRECFGKEY during stackInit->zgInit->zgPreconfigKeyInit, you could re-write it directly before forming/commissioning the network.

Network keys are not stored statically. The Network Manager or application could update the network security keys with Zstackapi_secNwkKey* APIs (see Zigbee Security SLA). However this feature is knowingly added and thus network key updates are not expected to occur unintentionally or without developer awareness.
