CC2530: Switch between router and end node.

Hi team,

Here's the request from the customer:

 

Could device switch between router and end node In Zstack3.0.2. Customer wants to let device act as a relay node to connect other end devices to the network.

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

    Basically, you can’t switch role dynamically after device joins network. However, you can use ZNP+ Host to switch role before device joins network.

    Hi Nick,

    This is not a good idea for Zigbee mesh networks.  A router which then becomes an end device would be orphaning its children, and changing roles during runtime would confuse internal NV settings and other device associations.  As YK mentioned, the best option is to use a ZNP which can switch roles before joining the network.  You can choose to commission the node as a router relay to connect end devices before factory resetting and rejoining as a end device.
