Hi,

I'm kind of new to the ZigBee World so be patient with me.

I would like to know how the OTA Upgrade works and implement it into our system.

I have an .OTA file with the latest firmware for my IKEA Tradfri but I don't really know how to initiate the procedure.

I've read multiple resources regarding this topic but I didn't grasp the concept correctly and fully.

Given the Commands in the ZStack Monitor And Test API, how do I start the OTA Upgrade? How do I know the number of Image Block Requests?

Hi Ayman,

Hopefully you read through the OTA Upgrade section of the Z-Stack User's Guide as well. As the OTA process in Zigbee is controlled through the ZCL layer, in order to have an operable MT API system you would be having to send formatted AF_DATA_REQUEST messages for which the data packets correlate to OTA cluster commands. This would require a script to be created for the multitude of Image Blocks which must be sent. For this purpose, TI has created ota_server examples which accompany the OTA Server PC Tool (see documentation) to help developers evaluate Z-Stack OTA upgrades. However, given that you are upgrading an end product it would be best for you to check with the manufacturer to determine the best upgrade route.
