Small RF library for cc2530

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2530, Z-STACK, CC2520

Hello,

I'm writing  an application for cc2530 as a school project. I use free 4kB version of IAR Embeded Workbench (I need more time than 30 days).

I would like to ask If there is rf library which can I use free and withouth problems with 4kB version. I don't want to use Z-Stack - is there smaller, but IEEE802.15.4 (resp. ZigBee) compilant library?

I like examle apps for cc2530 - light_switch,... -  there is small rf implementation - it is nice bud doesn't include for example beacons, association, etc....

Is there something small and usable with 4kB IAR EW?

Thank you!

  • Getting properly running Zigbee code in under 4kB is asking quite a bit.  I doubt you will find any stack that can achieve this without significant optimization for your specific project and even then it is still unlikely.  If you could move to something like a CC2520 and use Code Composer Studio, there is a lite version for MSP430 which will support 16kB of code for free here.

I know the Z-Stack still will not compile to this size of project but if you don't require Zigbee operation, you could try using SimplciTI available here

It will compile to under 8kB in certain configurations and is usable with the lite version of CCS.
