CC1352P7: latency over X number of hops?

Part Number: CC1352P7

I am considering the CC1352P7 for my application.

All wireless nodes under the gateway/coordinator shall be meshed to form redundant paths.  Zigbee protocol satisfies this requirement and we are ok to have all routers as Mains powered.

All sensors including Line powered routers would generate data on demand when an event occurs such as Door Open, Person detection, a button press during emergency/need etc. The notification would be delivered to system via coordinator with low latency.  What would be a typical latency over X number of hops for packet to be delivered to Coordinator from a wireless node and vice versa?

  • Try to refer to Figure 4.1. Zigbee Round Trip Latency by Packet Size in www.silabs.com/.../an1138-zigbee-mesh-network-performance.pdf

  • Part Number: CC1352P7

How many sensors we can accommodate under a gateway/coordinator?

Does the number of data packets from sensors OR memory on the processor limit the capacity?

Are the three uses cases a,b, c possible and configurable depending on the node type?

      1. Some of the wireless sensors nodes sends data to Gateway once every minute (30-sec is preferred for mains powered ones), consider 50-bytes of application data from each sensor every minute.
      2. Some other sensors like motion detect would send a keep alive data say every 5-minutes once to coordinator.  There is no data transmitted from these nodes unless a movement is detected.
      3. Device to Device data communication via immediate router without data going up to the Coordinator node use case will need very low latency.  We need faster milli seconds latency here say with in 200msec with no delay to human eye.

    Hi Anjli,

Please refer to Table 2 of SWRA650 for latency measurements.

Concerning total number of nodes possible in a Zigbee network, this will depend on a variety of factors such as channel noise, node reporting intervals, number of hops, maximum routing device's associations/neighbors, physical barriers, etc.  The conditions you've listed are possible to configure for nodes.
