CC2652P: Possible to use as a ZigBee packet sniffer?

Part Number: CC2652P
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1352P

Hi, I know the PACKET-SNIFFER-2 supported hardware list doesn't include the CC2652P, but shouldn't it be possible to use it as a packet sniffer? I tried flashing the cc26x2r1lp sniffer_fw, but Sniffer Agent doesn't detect the device.

I thought I might try to build the sniffer_fw from the provided source, but I'm new to CCS and am not sure how to do that. It looks like it uses the SimpleLink CC13x2 26x2 SDK version 4.30.0.54, so I installed that and am able to build the firmware. However, I enabled the Arm Hex Utility, and the generated .hex file is much smaller than the pre-compiled one supplied with Packet Sniffer (mine is 29K, supplied one is 129K). But ignoring that for now, I wanted to change the project to target the CC2652P. The SDK 4.30.0.54 release notes say that device is supported, but when I open sniffer.syscfg, go to the Device View, and click the "Switch" button, CC2652P is not in the list of available Devices.

Is this a futile exercise that will be very difficult to get working, or am I missing something simple?

Thanks!
