CC1352P: The serial communication of ZR(ZNP) could fail after many time factory reset

Part Number: CC1352P

Hi Ryan and YiKai,

How are you?

The serial communication of ZR(ZNP) could fail  after many time factory reset and normal reset.  No response for any MT command.

Simplelink_cc13x2_26x2_sdk_4_40_04_04 was used in ZNP.

352K flash memory was read back, please see insert file FYI (please let me know if uploading fail)

It can be fixed by reprogramming cc1352P with ZNP firmware.

Best regards,

David

  • Hi David,

I'm doing well, thank you for asking.  I hope the same can be said from your end.

Please further describe the number and frequency of resets required to cause the issue.  Is it necessary for the ZNP to form or join a network before causing this behavior or can it be achieved before network initialization?  Is this being tested using a LAUNCHXL-CC1352P-2 and is it reproducible on any unit?  Have you added NV memory low-voltage detection or considered updating the stack to a newer SDK?

The upload failed, please try again by drag-and-dropping the file directly into the reply window.  It would be beneficial to have memory contents of the device both before and after the failure occurs.

    Regards,
    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Good morning. Thanks for you great support.

A 40 ZRs network works well for couple month. The ZC was off, 2 ZR has the same problem , Factory reset about every 10 minutes if ZR did not joining the network.  ZR powered by AC and with battery backup and  NV memory low-voltage detection added as you suggestion before, own ZR  modules were used. Uploading file fail again,  will email to you. The code in flash  is good after comparing to original, NVM was not correct.

    Best regards,

    David

  • I received the first file and understand that your are awaiting further results before providing before/after images.  You have also mentioned that more than 10 networks work well, and that some networks work more for over one year.

When you state "Factory reset about every 10 minutes", does this mean that the ZR is forgetting the previous network by clearing the NV memory and starting a fresh join process?  When MT serial commands fail does the device still show over-the-air radio activity (ex. Link Status messages) or appear to otherwise be running?  What changes have been made to the default ZNP and have you considered upgrading to a newer SDK for testing purposes?

It is important to easily recreate the issue so that the problem can be easily debugged. Must the ZC be off/unavailable to cause the behavior?  Can the problem be recreated by constantly calling SYS_RESET_REQ or power cycling the device?

    Regards,
    Ryan

  • Appreciated for all your professional support and time.

I will try to debug as your suggestion and updating if making any progress.

    Best Regards,

    David
