How to flash an OTA example project?

HI TI!!

I'm trying to load from the CCS a firmware from examplo zr_sw_ota ... (any example the same result) after hitting RUN the MCU resets. If I load the .hex with uniflash, it does nothing after loading the firmeare.

In the project readme it says: This application also requires that the off-chip BIM application image is flashed alongside this project application's output .bin. I don't understand this.

In the output folder .hex, .out, .bin files are generated.
I have tried all combinations and I have no success.

So: What should I do to load an OTA firmware correctly?

Hi albgarc,

You need to load the output zr_sw_ota_client_offchip *_oad.bin along with the bim_offchip .hex file using Uniflash. This is also explained in the OTA Upgrade section of the Z-Stack User's Guide.

I am not clear what is the difference between zr_sw_client_onchip and zr_sw_client_offchip.

The off-chip version has been around for quite some time now and stores the download image into external flash device before verifying and programming the device with the new image. The on-chip version implements a dual image approach, a newer feature only available for CC1352P7/CC2652R7 Z-Stack projects which stores the download image in a secondary flash allocation of similar size to the application and then runs after being verified (the original application flash space becomes the download image area and so on). You can find descriptions for both in the project READMEs and Z-Stack User's Guide.
