CC2530: New starter help request to develop ZigBee End Device.

Hi,

I'm completely new to cc2530 development, and embedded development in general.

My end goal is to create simple ZigBee end devices, used to monitor environments; motion, temperature, light-intensity, etc. I would like the finished product to then connect to Home Assistant with ZHA.

All I have so far is an XL2530-D01 and a dream.

What are the required steps to achieve what I want, and how might I successfully start in carrying out the first; whatever it may be.

I'll thank the kind soul in advance before they respond (in the hope of course that they do!).

CC2530 is NRND. I would suggest you to buy and use CC26x2R Launchpad. You can refer to SES temperature example at dev.ti.com/.../node

Hi Jonathan,

Why are you specifically requesting the Zigbee HA Specification? Zigbee 3.0 is the latest Specification and is backwards compatible with Zigbee HA. As YK mentioned, you will be much better off with the SIMPLELINK-CC13XX-CC26XX-SDK resources.

I need it to work with Home Assistant which to my knowledge is ZHA. As I say, I am new to this, so any advice is good advice! I just didn't want to be drowned in documentation, not knowing the general direction I should be heading.

For backwards compatibility with Zigbee HA, set requestNewTrustCenterLinkKey to FALSE in zd_sec_mgr.c inside a Z-Stack 3.0 CC26XX project. You can import a Zigbee application example into CCS, make the necessary change, build the project, flash it to your CC26XX device, then use the UART User Interface to attempt commissioning the device into your ZHA network. I would recommend a sniffer solution as well to view and interpret over-the-air traffic.
