CC2652R7: The MSP432 Debugger on my Launchpad has stopped working

Part Number: CC2652R7
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Good day,

A few months back 1 of my CC2652R7 Launchpads debugger stopped working.
1. The green led next to the Debugger IC is does not go on when plugged into my PC.
2. The board is not picked up by my PC at all. No uart comms. Uniflash also doesnt work.
3. The CC2652 MCU works without any issue, since I can program it with my other CC2652R7 launchpad.
4. My assumption is that the debugger firmware might have got corrupted during sometime when I flashed the board or did an upgrade.

Do you have any suggests and steps I can follow to revive the Debugger onboard.

Kind regards,
Logan HB Becker

  • Hi Logan,

It does sound like the custom bootloader could be damaged, in which case you will need to re-flash the bootloader.  There are instructions inside the XDS110 Troubleshooting Guide using either the XDSFU utility (after connecting the TDO pin to GND) or CCS (using another debug probe).

  • Hi Ryan,

    Thank you, it worked.

By the way, for viewers that face the same issue, I suggest them to read "XDS110SupportReadMe.pdf"
    under
    "ti/ccs1210/ccs/ccs_base/common/uscif/xds110"
if it exists on their PC.

Reasoning behind it is to follow the latest and exact commands for their xdsdfu tool to get the Debugger into DFU, upload the bootloader (boot_loader.bin), power cycle the device, upload the "firmware_xxx.bin", power cycle and it works.

    Kind regards,
