SmartRF Studio 7 fails to launch

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Hello,

I have installed SmartRF Studio7 and used it before.  I got a new computer and for some reason the program will not launch.  I am, however, able to install and successfully use other TI programs like UniFlash to install firmware files.

I tried downloading a couple different versions (2.29 and 2.30) as well as restarting my computer and downloading the latest Java.

Are there any common troubleshooting issues?  The splash screen shows up and then disappears without given me an error message.

Thanks,

Will

  • Hi,

I have uinstalled and re-installed SmartRF Studio 7 version 2.30.00, and it is working as expected.
    (I am using Windows 10).

Can you try running the installation executable as admin?

Are you using Windows 10 or 11 (or other)?

    Thanks,
    Toby

  • Another suggestion by our Tools team is to try installing this tool in a different location than the default.

The default location is in "C:\Program Files", consider uninstalling then installing in "C:\Texas Instruments", for example.

This is because the access rights are different in the "Program Files".

Is this computer issued by your organization? If yes, your IT team may be able to help you address this issue.

  • Hi Toby,

Thanks for your help.  I tried installing in a different location (created "C:\Texas Instruments" folder and installed under there).  I've been working with my companies IT and am a local admin.  When I go to Event Viewer it looks like "C:\windows\system32\wbem\fastprox.dll" is blocking the app from opening.  I assume this app uses that DLL for something.  Does this error message provide any insight to you?

    Thanks again for your help,

    Will

  • Thanks for the update.

From a brief search, it looks like fastprox.dll has been known to interfere with other PC program(s):
