CC2652R: Configure a device without the commissiong process

Part Number: CC2652R

Hi,

Please can you clarify this

1. Is it possible to commission a router by writing settings directly into NV(probably pre-saving the nwk info or receiving it through uart/bluetooth) and skip the commissioning process altogether

2. If possible, any down sides to this ?

We are pairing around 200 devices, it takes too much time we would like to skip those steps

Thanks

Akhilesh

  • Hi Akhilesh,

You would likely need some solution similar to the ZC Cloning Application Report so that critical NV regions are pre-established through UART.  The issue will be that you will have to create NV settings for each router as well as corresponding information in the ZC NV (link keys could be avoided with bdbTrustCenterRequireKeyExchange and requestNewTrustCenterLinkKey set to FALSE).  This operation has not been tested or validated by TI so you would personally need to further investigate such a feature.  If done correctly, and assuming silent ZR rejoins without any existing ZED children, then the devices should be able to communicate over the same PanID/channel using the pre-determined network key.

    Regards,
    Ryan

  • Thanks Ryan,

    We will try this out.
