CC2530: ZNP and NWK_MAX_DEVICES

Hello everyone, in ZNP, I want to set up the network with only one coordinator and two or three router nodes. When additional router nodes send join requests, they should not be able to join the network. Besides the variables defined in the following diagram, what other variables need to be modified?

Hello qd,

If you don't want any ZEDs to join then your settings are fine. If you want ZEDs to associate as well then you would increase the NWK_MAX_DEVICE_LIST as well. Please let me know if you find out otherwise through your tests.

Yes, I only need routing nodes. After setting these configurations, I observed through the serial port that four nodes still have their own network short addresses (joined the network?).

All routing node devices are also configured via ZNP, sending the "Network Steering" command, and then successfully joining the network.

When I set MAX_NODE_DEPTH to 1, all network nodes are directly connected to the coordinator, but the number of nodes that can join the network is not limited to 3. All 7 nodes I have can join the network. Only when MAX_NODE_DEPTH is set to 0, no nodes can join. This indicates that MAX_NODE_DEPTH does have an effect, but modifying NWK_MAX_DEVICES does not change the number of network nodes.

In ZStack-2.5.1a, I can modify the values of MAX_NODE_DEPTH and NWK_MAX_DEVICE_LIST to limit the maximum number of nodes in the network to 3. However, making these changes does not work in ZNP.

After reviewing the materials, I found that NWK_MAX_DEVICE_LIST is already defined in the C/C++ Compiler. Since this has higher priority, I directly modified the value here, and it worked successfully.

Thank you for reporting the solution to your issue. You have BEACON_MAX_DEPTH, DEF_NWK_RADIUS, and ZDSECMGR_TC_DEVICE_MAX to consider as well.
