CC2650: CC2650 packet handring support?

Part Number: CC2650
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2500, , CC2652R, CC2510

Tool/software:

Does CC2650's IEEE 802.15.4 PHY and MAC support hardware similar to CC2500's packet handling?
If so, please tell me how to use it.
  • Hello toshiyuki,

The IEEE PHY defines its own sizes and formats of packet preambles and sync words, and CRCs which would not be compatible with the CC2500 Proprietary RF.  However, the CC2650 does allow for a Proprietary RF of its own whose "commands define a flexible packet handling compatible with the CC110x, CC111x, CC112x, CC120x, CC2500, and CC251x devices, as well as supporting other legacy modes."  I would recommend that you further investigate the available CC2650 RF examples, however it is worth mentioning that you would receive greater support if evaluating a CC2652R (or likewise variant) solution with the SimpleLink CC13XX / CC26XX F2 SDK.  Plus you will be at an advantage of using Smart RF Studio 7 to further evaluate simple RF communication between the CC2650 and CC2500, thus proving that your radio configuration is correct.  I recall a previous instance from which this was performed between a CC2652R and CC2510.

    Regards,
    Ryan
