CC2530: Crystal frequency tolerance_CC2530

Part Number: CC2530

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am using CC2530F256. In the datasheet, I find the frequency tolerance of 32.768KHz crystal oscillator is so tight. I can not find a crystal oscillator which can meet +/-40ppm over temperature (-40~85degC).

Even the crystal oscillator used in CC2530 EM can not meet this requirement. Per calculation, the frequency tolerance during -40~85degC can reach -169 PPM, but the datasheet requests +/-40 ppm including aging and temperature dependency, as specified by [1].

Can you advise me why such tight frequency tolerance is required over temperature?

Thanks

John

  • Hi John,

You are correct and thank you for catching this. This seems to be an error in the datasheet as all of our recommended 32.768KHz crystals have a parabolic curve for the frequency tolerance. What it should have said is the parabolic coefficient is -0.04 which is our standard requirement this crystal.

I will bring this up with my team and have it corrected.

    Best regards,

    Bun
