CC2652P: SnartFR Flash Programmer not seeing any files

Part Number: CC2652P
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: Z-STACK

Tool/software:

I am trying to update FW on a CC2652P (Firmware: Z-Stack 20210708) Zigbee coordinator using SmartRF FLash Programmer 2 (latest v1.8.2)

System: Windows 10

In SmartRF I cannot see the .hex file to select it, when I browse to its location, it seems SmartRF is blind, in fact I do not see any folders or other files in there, of which there are many.

Confused, have googled this but nothing comes up.

It all works fine on my colleagues laptop, the same hex file is seen in the browse window.

Any help appreciated.

  • Hello Rob Gee,

I hope you are doing well. Could we try uninstalling and then re-installing SmartRF Flash Programmer 2? Since your college's flash programmer works on their side this seems like a possible issue on your computer, just need to find out why.

    Thanks,
    Alex F

  • Hi Alex,

Thanks, OK I have just done as advised, but still no joy, I have the .hex file in the downloads folder, which has a large number of files in, yet SmartRF can only see one folder in their called 'cakewalk', which is music editing SW.

I am sure my folder prefs are to display all files, so bit miffed.

  • Hello Rob Gee,

Can you share a screenshot of what you are experiencing (similar to the image below).

    Thanks,
    Alex F

  • Hi Alex,

Ok its fixed, thank you for your time and effort.

Here are the steps to replicate:

After install, the SW ran (I asked the installer to run the SW after install), at this stage I could not see my .hex file within the SW's browse window.

When I went to re-run the SW, the desktop icon could not be found, (ie it had not been created, despite requesting the installer to do so, I did search for 'SmartRF' in the search bar, but nothing was found oddly, and then blindly missed seeing the 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\Flash Programmer 2' folder,  at this stage I should have pinned the .exe to my start menu, and run the SW, but I was lazy and simply run the SmartRF installer again, which WAS found when I searched for SmartRF.

Again the problem repeated itself, ie could not see the .hex file in the browse window.

So whether the installer is not finishing all its tasks before it automatically runs the SW I am not sure, but quitting it, and running the actual .exe found in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\Flash Programmer 2 resolved the issue.
