CC2533 inter-packet delay

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2533, SIMPLICITI

Hi,

The development kit for the CC2533 comes with a PER software example. As it is, the fastest transmission one can choose in the menu is 100 packets/second. I changed this to 1000 packets/second, but the RF sniffer still measures the time between two packets to about 4.3 ms. Is this the fastest one can send packets reliably?

Thanks,

Tomas

  • Basically, yes - it is the fastest that you can send successive packets given the 802.15.4 protocol and the MAC and Stack overhead running on the 8051 SOC.

Why do you need to send any faster on a low-power RF solution? Perhaps you could try SimpliciTI stack to go faster.

  • Thanks, I'll look into the SimpliciTI stack. I need it for certain applications, where the system's duty cycle is very small, but when it's active, it should be able to transmit packets with at least no larger inter-packet delay than 1-2 ms.
