CC2652P: Does CC2652P power ampliflier affects reception quality?

Part Number: CC2652P
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2652RB, , CC2652R

Tool/software:

Hello,

I'm planning to use CC2652. It comes in 2 versions CC2652RB and CC26R2P. The last one provides a +20dBm power amplifier.

My guess is that the amplifier operates only for transmission and not for reception but I'm not fluent in radio and I imagine that it could provide amplification and filtering also on the reception side.

Please can you confirm which assumption is the right one?

Thanks

Julien

  • Hi Julien,

The PA is only for amplifying the Tx signal.

A Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) would be used to amplify an Rx signal; the regular 2.4 GHz radio contains both a PA (+5 dBm) and LNA internally. The CC2652P contains both the regular 2.4 GHz radio, used for Rx operation and Tx operation for power levels up to +5 dBm, and the +20 dBm PA. The CC2652R contains only the regular 2.4 GHz radio.

    Regards,

    Zack

  • Perfect answer. I learned something!

    Thanks a lot.
