CC2652P: current consumption is more when using a fresh 3.3v battery than compared to a 3v battery

Part Number: CC2652P

Tool/software:

I was testing current consumption for an end device using NRF power profiler and found out that the current consumption with  a new battery(measured at 3.3V) was drawing more current than a slightly older battery(measured at 2.9V). The difference seems to be around ~(2UA to 3UA). I have checked all the peripherals and components, i haven't found anything yet. Is there any parameter that i have missed?

  • Hi,

I see you are using the CC2652P device. If you are using it in the +20 dBm configuration, where the PA is supplied directly from VDDS, you should expect an increase in current consumption with the increase in voltage. This is shown in figure 7-12 of the CC2652P datasheet.

In addition, if you have any external peripherals, devices (transistors, for example) or pull up/down resistors tied to terminals that draw a minimal current, you would surely see an increase in the current draw.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
