CC2652P: [CC2652P] Device not shown in SmartRF Studio, but detected in Flash Programmer 2

Part Number: CC2652P
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650, CC2652R

Hi TI Team,

I'm working with the CC2652P device on my custom board.
When I connect it through the LaunchPad debugger (XDS110), **SmartRF Flash Programmer 2** detects the device correctly as CC2652P.
However, **SmartRF Studio 7** does not list CC2652P as a selectable device, and it doesn’t recognize it automatically either.

Could you please clarify:

1. Is CC2652P officially supported in SmartRF Studio 7?
2. If not, is there another version or tool that supports continuous TX/RX testing for CC2652P (for regulatory certification)?
3. Can I use another device profile (e.g., CC2652R or CC2650) as an alternative for RF test mode?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,

  • Hello JS,

    1. Is CC2652P officially supported in SmartRF Studio 7?

    Yes:

    2. If not, is there another version or tool that supports continuous TX/RX testing for CC2652P (for regulatory certification)?

It should be possible to use code to make the device continuously TX/RX.

    3. Can I use another device profile (e.g., CC2652R or CC2650) as an alternative for RF test mode?

You can use it to test the PHY but likely not for certification purposes if you want a specific device certified (being the CCC2652P).

Have you tried other CC2652P boards, and which revision is your current board?

    Thanks,
    Alex F

  • Hi Jaeseung,

You can submit your hardware design to SIMPLELINK-2-4GHZ-DESIGN-REVIEWS for further review.  The only pins which are required for communication with SmartRF Studio 7 using 2-pin cJTAG are VCC, GND, RST, TMS, and TCK.  I suspect that Smart RF Studio 7 is communicating at a different cJTAG frequency than the SmartRF Flash Programmer 2 which your custom hardware is having difficulty with.  Please review the TMS and TCK lines in particular, they need to be as short as possible.

    Regards,
    Ryan
