CC2652R: Antenna Range Issue

Part Number: CC2652R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2592, LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1

Hi Team,

We have devoped a Zigbee Based controller board using CC2652, Facing an issue with range like max it is reaching about 1.5 to 2 meter.

In design we have used On board PCB trace antenna.

Could you please hel us to resolve. Attached is the schematics for your reference.

  • Hi srinivas,

It appears that your board has a JTAG header, is it possible to connect your board to SmartRF Studio 7 and test the range of the IEEE PHY?  If it is similarly poor then it is likely  a HW issue, but if the range improves we will need to further consider your SW.  You can also submit your design to SIMPLELINK-2-4GHZ-DESIGN-REVIEWS for further review.

However, I see that you are using an external CC2592 PA which could easily explain the poor range if your SW is not configured properly.  You can configure this in SmartRF Studio 7 through the Custom Target Configuration window by adding I/O Configurations as a Radio Configuration.

Have you enabled RF observables on the correct output pins?  Are you able to connect a LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1 to a CC2592 EVM for further testing?

    Regards,
    Ryan
