Usage of CC2531 USB Dongle

Hi,

I am currently doing a personal project on using only the daughter board (CC2420EM) without the development kit - I will be connecting up to another microcontroller.

I read up on this CC2531 USB Dongle and I intend to use this to capture data packets using SmartRF.

Could I used this for packet sniffing? If not what other ways to test if my CC2420 is transmitting the correct packets?

Yes, the CC2531 dongle can be used with our packet sniffer.

Hi,

Being a beginner at this, I would like to ask if just by getting the CC2531 dongle, i do not need any flashing of image or initializing it? - in short if i just get the dongle, i am able to test my CC2420EM interfaced with another microcontroller and still use user GUI, SmartRF for verification of packet data sent?

i have a cc2531emk and i want to program with another firmware, but i don' t want to loose the packet sniffer firmware.

where can i find the .hex file of the packet sniffer firmware for the cc2531emk?

or how can i copy an code that is programmed in one firmware?

or the packet sniffer is just a cc2531emk with none firmware?

Hi Franz

If you install the TI SmartRF Packet sniffer (http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/packet-sniffer.html),

you can find the firmware for the CC2531 in the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\Packet Sniffer\General\Firmware\sniffer_fw_cc2531.hex
