Z-stack for CCE and other questions

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: Z-STACK, CC2520

Hello,

I read some post here about the software support from TI. Many people complain that most of the libraries and sample projects are built for IAR. I share this opinion too. Recently I was on a MCU Day seminar and there the people from TI misleaded me that all I need is a single debugger/programmer and signle IDE/Compiler for all of the TI's products. Well as soon as I checked in detail the things in the web site I realized that the truth is completely different.

Will there be Z-stack for CCE?

When CCE MCU edition will suport Stellaris MCUs?

Will there be a new CCE version until the end of the year?

Are there plans to standardize your debug/program interface in all of your MCUs(MSP, CC, Stellaris and etc.) to use single programmer/debuger?

  • Hi!

I do have more or less the same question. I’m a student at the Vienna University of Technology and we want to build a ZigBee network using the CC2520 and the MSP430F2816. Unfortunately we are using Code Composer Essentials at the moment. As far as I know CCE is not compatible with the precompiled libs used in the ZStack. Is this correct? Is the source code of these libs or are precompiled libs for the CCE by any chance available?

Since my experience with embedded systems is rather limited and the IAR compiler is quite expensive I need to get some kind of confirmation before our institute will spend the money for the IAR Embedded Workbench.

    Any help is highly appreciated!

    Best regards!

  • You are correct -- the libraries provided with Z-Stack work only with IAR and are not compatible with CCE/CCS. The source code for the libraries is not available. Also, there are no Z-Stack libraries for CCE/CCS. One thing that some users find helpful -- IAR provides a 30-day trial of Embedded Workbench that can be used to work with Z-Stack.

  • Thank you for the information and the hint concerning the trail version! Since this is a long term project we will probably buy a licence.

    Best regards
