How to get the real PANID

Hi

I'm looking for the installed PANID of my system.

I explain : when you start a coordinator with the PANID 1234 and after you start a second coordinator with the same PANID, there is a conflict and the second coordinator takes the PANID 1235. How can I get the PANID taken by the coordinator in my application to be sure it takes the PANID I want?

PAN ID's have specific meanings, depending on the numbers chosen. See page 18 here: http://tiexpressdsp.com/images/8/8a/08_-_ZigBee_Stack.pdf

If you're starting a second Coordinator, then you are starting a new mesh network. The rules on page 18 should help you see how to get devices to join a specific PAN ID Coordinator.

but if my coordinator is shutdown when a network is established, if I want to restart the coordinator there is a conflict.
That's to know if there is a conflict I want to get the installed PAN ID.
(my previous example was not precise, sorry)

I'd have to say that starting the network without the Coordinator running is not optimal. The Coordinator has features, security in particular, that needs to be running at startup. If you use the NV_RESTORE compiler option, it would be possible to shut down the Coordinator after network startup. The network parameters for the Coordinator would then be available in Flash when the Coordinator is restarted. That would prevent the PAN ID conflict.

I start my network with the coordinator running.

The NV_RESTORE option makes (I don't know why) my endpoints unstable so I can't use it now.

The current way of running of my application satisfies me and the conflict is not a problem if I can get the PAN ID. I succeeded in the Z-Stack 1.4.3 but modifying the stack in low layers, I want to have the same result in the new stack without doing the same work. Is it possible ? Is there a simple way to obtain this installed PAN ID?

NV_RESTORE shouldn't make your ED's unstable (the term "endpoint" is the name of the application constructs in the ZigBee Application Framework).

You should be able to simply read the PAN ID in your code ... it's just a global in the f8wConfig.cfg file ... -DZAPP_CONFIG_PAN_ID

Of course I wanted to say End Devices.

-DZAPP_CONFIG_PAN_ID is the configured PAN ID, not the real one in case of conflict. Isn't it?

For information I tested the NV_RESTORE option on a network with CC2430 device, and the result is the same : when I disconnect the coordinator after the establishment of the network, it can't rejoin the network, it gets the PAN ID +1 when reconnecting.

I can't test it on a CC2530 network because my project is not ready yet.

If the Coordinator has NV_RESTORE enabled and all the network devices have joined, then you should be able to turn off/turn on the Coodinator without a PAN ID conflict occurring. Running on the 2530 rather than the 2430 shouldn't make any difference.

I have the same (unanswered) question:

Where is the currently used PanID saved and how can I read it?

I am using z-Stack 2.3.1-1.4.0 on a CC2530.

The current PanId can be found at _NIB.nwkPanId - a search of the GenericApp sample application will display many examples of use of this variable.

I also met a problem with PANID conflict.

Is there anyone who has used NWK_MANAGER? I want to use the function ZDNwkMgr_ProcessNetworkReport( ZDNwkMgr_NetworkReport_t *pNetworkReport ) in ZDNwkMgr.c to resolve my conflict problem. But I dont know how to trigger this procedure. That is the function which is aimed to process the osal message "ZDO_NETWORK_REPORT". Is there any timer for the message generation?

I found a "ZDNwkMgr_UpdateRequestTimer" with default value 0. Does it works for it?
