Zigbee Network formation - CC2430DB Chipcon

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: Z-STACK

Hi - I need to crate a demo setup of zigbee network using CC2430DB boards, by using the TI’s Z-stack software and the sampleApplication. I downloaded the same sampleApplication on both the boards. On one of the board put jumper between P7_1  & P7_3 to make it coordinator. But it doesn’t become coordinator. It keeps blinking green LED as the router does.

Please help asap

Thanks

Mahan

  • Hi Mahan,

What version of Z-Stack are you using, 1.4.3-1.2.1? Make sure that you build and download the DemoDB configuration to both boards, not DemoEB. If you accidentatlly select the wrong configuration, the code will download but won't work properly!

  • Hi  -  I am using ZStack-CC2430-1.4.3-1.2.1.  And also I build the workspace with demoDB.  The issue is a jumper setting.   In the documentation ( Z-stack docs & comments in the source files) it is mentioned that to make a board a coordinator, put jumper between P10_9 and P10_11 if it is SmartRF04EB.  And P7_1 & P7_3 if it is CC2430DB.   I only have CC2430DB. It doesn't turn coordinator with the specified jumper setting...  :  (

  • Hi Mahan,

I took another look at your original post -- you indicate the the green LED is blinking on bith devices. That probably means that the Z-Stack start-up process could not find a valid IEEE address so it is in a loop waiting for you to press the joystick (center, stright down) to generate a "temporary" IEEE address. Take a look at sections 4.3, 6.1, and especially 6.2 in the Z-Stack User's Guide - CC2430DB_F8W-2005-0036  document.

  • Sir,

The blinking of green LED is not due to IEEE address. I ensured that the board gets the IEEE address using the joy stick (SW5).  With the sampleApplication also the device blinks the green LED (at a slower rate).  Once it finds a coordinator, connects to it and stops blinking green and flashes red LED.  With this sampleApplication,  when the network is formed both boards flash red LEDs
