Replace RS485 HardWired with CC2430 ZigBee Wireless

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIMAC, SIMPLICITI

Dear Members,
Base on CC2430ZDK_DB and SeriapApp application example, I want to replace RS485 hardwired using ZigBee wireless.
The scenario I must do are,
1.Remove binding step requirement
2."Coordinator" always broadcast the messages to the all off routers/endDevices
3."Router" and "EndDevice" always send messages to Coordinator
Anyone can help me to do above steps, since I'm newbie in Zigbee?

thanks

  • I would consdier not to use ZigBee at all in this type of application. You would probably be better off using TIMAC which is less complex and requires less MCU resources, hence uses less power.

  • I concur with Jomar.

One of the common misconceptions I often see on this forum is that ZigBee is a one-stop shop for almost any wireless application. In reality, it is a great solution for those who want either mesh networking or ZigBee's marketing clout, but both come at a fairly steep price in MIPS and dollars. If you don't need those features, there are many simpler options, like TI-MAC or SimpliciTI that you can get up to speed on much more quickly, and implement at a much lower cost, than ZigBee. I can say this because, as a TI employee, we don't make a dime on the wireless protocol a customer uses, but rather the silicon they buy. So, while you're at it, it might be a good idea to investigate the other third party protocols out their that also run on TI's wireless devices.
