RX/TX switching in CC2480

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F2274

Good day everyone.

I would like to know how the CC2480 handles the switching between the TX and RX. In Figure 9 of SWRS074A, the switch is connected to a control logic which is connected to at least three other functional blocks. Other than that, I have no more idea how the whole switching process happens.

I'd like to confirm though if the MSP430F2274 (I'm using by the way the EZ430-RF2480 kit) actually 'controls' the RF switching via SPI. I've been browsing through the CC2480 Interface Specification and the MSP430F2274 datasheet yet to no avail. I could be utterly wrong with my hunch of course.

Is there also a previous experiment that could confirm the functionality of the receiver and transmitter for this chip?

The reason for these questions is that we have an unresolved issue involving a different Zigbee kit from another manufacturer.  The TX and RX levels were below our expectations. It is not yet clear (at least to me) which was the culprit: (1) the physical switch was not working or that (2) the firmware that was supposed to take care of #1 was not properly set in place.

Looking forward to your interactions.

Cheers,
Brennan
