Z-Stack How to change CCA mode?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: Z-STACK

Hello,

I would like ro use CCA mode3 (I think it is mode 3) which uses ED and CS.  I don't know what Mode Z-Stack currently uses and/or how to change this?  Does anyone else?

Thanks

  • Typically this shoudn't be changed, but could you provide the reasons why you want to change it?

  • I am not sure I want to change yet. I want to verify which mode it is indeed using and I may want to change it. Our system is a little silly as we are leveraging Zigbee for a non-typical Zigbee application. What we require is the ability to stream packets from upto 6 EDs to a Coordinator. During this process we don't want one of the EDs to broadcast out of turn accidently causing contention. Preliminaryly, it seems the best CCA method would be to use ED and CS ored.

  • I see, thanks. Are you using 2430? We are using the default settings in the MDMCTRL0L register for the CCA_MODE bits (which are by default set to 11).
    According to the datasheet, this means:

    CCA=1 when RSSI < CCA_THR-CCA_HYST and not

    receiving a packet

    CCA=0 when RSSI >= CCA_THR or receiving a packet

    We are also using the default CCA threshold and hysteresis values.
