ZStack and iMesh (already integrated?)

We are actually looking into iMesh as it was announced that ZigBee is capable of.

But stuying the ZStack, I'm not very sure how an iMesh can be implemented (or is already implemented?).

Our network consists basically of routers (all router) + the coordinator.

How does a (child-)router know that its parent(-router) is gone (battery empty or whatever)?

How can teh router join another router after he has detected the lost?

  • Hi FGreber,

I guess we do not call iMesh, but the basic idea of ZigBee is that the

Mesh network in routing employs AODV (Ad Hoc On Demand Distance Vector Routing)
-Ad Hoc (Network is unknown at start-up)
-On Demand (Determines route to destination only when needed)
-Distance Vector (Only the final destination and the next hop are stored at each node. Relies on a distributed protocol to handle routing)
-Flooding (repeated broadcasts) determines paths from source to destination in the mesh
-Route Replies determine viable paths in the mesh while Routing tables record known paths determined by AODV
    - Self healing upon route failure
-Reliable and robust. Failed router will reinitiate discovery and find an alternative path
