CC2530-CC2591 Range Problem using Evaluation Module Kit

Hello,

We think that we have a problem with CC2530+CC2591 operating range. We use two SmartRF05 Evaluation Boards with CC2530-CC2591 EMs. When we are running stock PER test application, we are getting operating distance much shorter than we expected. Could you help us to solve or just to understand the results? Detailed information follows:

- Running stock PER test application compiled for 2530+2591 (with transmission power +20dBm selected from menu), reliable data transmission range is about 30-40 meters within direct visibility (larger distances shows about -90 dBm on the reciever and have large PER values);

- PCB antenna of CC2530-CC2591 EMs shows better results than stock external antenna (approx. +10 dBm better)

What is expectable operating distance for 2530+2591? Why PCB antenna seems to be better than external one? (Signal strength depends on antenna direction, but PCB antenna shows better results)
