CC2530+CC2591EM and Z-Stack 2.5.0, compilation flags

I use the following API to change TX power. You may use it to set a max value.

It doesn't work (based on my observation of RSSI I get from CC2531 USB packet sniffer, it's -20dBm with only

10 centimeters away from the antenna) .

CC2530 is configured for max TX power TXPOWER = 0xF5 (debugged), but it seems like the PAL/NA is acting

like a pipe (no amplification whatsoever).

Besides macRadioSetTxPower() is a low_level mac function, I think the right API function that should be used

in this case is ZMacSetTransmitPower(TX_PWR_PLUS_19) (don't you think so).

I have the filling i'm missing some sort of aditional compilation flag. Unfortunately I have not much time I can

dedicate to this, so I'm seeking for a quick answer from someone who is already using it (like you).

Adding the HAL_PA_LNA in the preprocessor section

and calling ZMacSetTransmitPower(TX_PWR_PLUS_19); inside my piece of code  did the trick.

Glad to hear it, so you had just missed the called to set the tx power?

I have the definition in the preprocessor, made the call to ZMacSetTransmitPower(...) and changed the OBSSEL settings because we moved a control pin, but we are still seeing poor rssi values.  I looked at the pins on a scope and they seem ok, though I haven't tested them properly.

I am using smartrf studio to test packet rx on a separate device, this is where I am taking the rssi values from, is this how you tested your signal strength?

I would like to suggest you to use macRadioSetTxPower() API in mac_radio.c instead of using ZMacSetTransmitPower() API in zMac.c . I have no problem using it.

I have been performing a packet txrx test using our device (tx) and a eval board (rx).  When I use smartrf studio tx'ing through our device I get about about  5dbm higher rssi on the receiver than when I am tx'ing from our application on an otherwise identical test setup.

The only difference I can see is that paen, en and hgm are static with the smartrf test (because it has the luxury of never rx'ing) whereas the application has to switch netween tx and rx modes frequently.

Does anyone have any insight into if/why this would account for the rssi discrepancy between these tests?
