Different Stacks in one mesh

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP, Z-STACK

Hi,

Can someone please tell me if I can mix ZigBee devices from different manufacturers with different stack in one network.

I have an existing product line designed with Ember transceivers and stack and I would like to change it to TI transceiver. I need the new devices to be on the the same mesh network. I do NOT use a standard profile.

  • Hi,

ZigBee guarantees complete application interoperability if you use a public profile.

If you use a private profile, ZigBee guarantees stack level interoperability.

Please stay tuned for next updates of the TI Zigbee stack which embed latest Zigbee version (called Zigbee 2012).

    Thanks,

  • Thanks TheDarkSide,

So if I understand correctly, I can Form, Join, leave a network as well as send and receive data with coordinator running on Ember stack using an end device with TI Zigbee transceiver and Stack.

  • Hi Yuval,

You can do that with the current stack 2.5.1a itself.

    Thanks and Regards

  • Hi,

I've got to the stage where CC2530ZNP is acting as a coordinator and I'm trying to join with Ember's EM260 and it doesn't work. Looking at the sniffer I can see a beacon request/response and that's it.

Reading some threads here in the forum I see there are comparability issues between the two companies stacks and TI claim a fix is implemented in the HA stack (Zigbee r20 spec) but not in the 2.5.1a version. My question is:

Can I use the HA stack but not using the profile?

Is there any known workaround I can use?

When TI will release an update to Z-Stack?

    Yuval

    P.S

Any help from anyone int he forum that try to work with Ember and TI together will be appreciated.
