Hello,

I am currently working on a project where I have a static wireless module (maybe the cc2530) and a moving modules it's speed is about 60mph to 70mph and it's about 500m away from the static module.

I want to know if the cc2530 can work for this application. I need to transfer about 10-50bits of data to the moving module as it passes by. Do you think this can work with zigbeepro?

The thing is we have alot of these cc2530 development kits so we rather use them if they can work. Also what module would you recommend?

According to my experience, Zigbee is not a good candidate for moving device espically in such fast speed. However, CC2530 is a 2.4G RF soc so you can designed your own RF protocol to fit your application.

I did some reading as far as I see it's only has a max range of 400m within line of sight. I can't figure out how to boost the range by increase the transmitter power.

You can use macRadioSetTxPower(22) to set TX power to max 22dbm in you zcl_xxx_Init.

Ok thanks, and then maybe I can send raw data over the air using some of the hal drivers I am guessing?

How would I sent raw data over the air? Such as a series of bytes?

I am working on a similar project. I need to use the CC2530 module at a range of around 500m. I am new to this module. Please tell me how should I proceed to change the code for increasing the range.

Hi Desmond and Swetank,

To get more than +4.5dBm TX power, you will need to add a power amplifier device like CC2591. With CC2591, you will be able to get up to +21dBm. However, since the radio range is highly dependent on the channel condition and the PCB/antenna design, how long distance a packet can be delivered to cannot be determined based on output power.

If what you need are long range and proprietary protocol, I would suggest to take a look at Sub-1GHz solutions here: http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/wireless_connectivity/sub-1_ghz/overview.page

Different country uses different sub GHz base frequency and you need to fit the regulation.

Hi,

I want to close the uart port of CC2530 as I need to change the baud rate while the code is running. But I am unable to use the function extern void HalUARTClose ( uint8 port ); from the hal_uart.h .

There is an error while linking:

Error[e46]: Undefined external "HalUARTClose::?relay" referred in Sensor ( C:\Users\aswetank\Documents\from H\workSpace\cc2530-zigb\Projects\zstack\Code\

Please help me how to do this?
