Starter question - which hardware to use for zigbee

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: Z-STACK

Hi

This is a quite a beginner question. I don't have any background in home automation but I am trying to figure out what all it will take to build a system that includes -

1. A standalone zigbee controller on which I can put my own code that can talk to other zigbee sensors in home and process data coming in from sensors. Is some controller like this available out of the box?

2. Sensors like motion/proximity sensor that can talk to the controller wirelessly. Are these sensors available from TI? or are there other companies whose sensors can be integrated with a TI controller?

Can someone give me a few pointers on which hardware I should start with to do it?

thanks
