CC2538SF53 basic connections for Debugging/Programming

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC-DEBUGGER, CC2538

Dear,

I have decided to use CC2538SF53 as a zigbee chip, but I'll use it in a custom design board. So please code you provide me with the typical connections needed to connect it with CC-debugger to use it with SmartRF studio 7.

Also, please support me with the required interface between the chip and Code Composer Studio(CCS) 6.0.0.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Mohammad Harraz

  • Hi,

The cc2538 core is based on ARM, making the CC2538 to be not compatible with CC-debuger.

For programming and debugging a cc2538 SoC you'll need JTAG connection.

For example, the smartRF06, besides being an evaluation board, is also capable for programming cc2538

    SoCs with it's XDS100v3

  • Dear Igor,

    Thanks for your reply.

The SmartRF studio supporting the CC debugger, as I know, it's the way to connect the chip and test its RF signal.

  • Hi,

SmartRF studio supports cc2538 device, however, as I mentioned it before, you won't be able to connect cc2538 SoC to CC Debugger, those two are simply not compatible.

  • Dear Igor,

Thank you a lot for your answers.

I got what you had said, but I still have couple of questions:

1- Which devices could connect with CC debugger?

2- If SmartRF Studio reads CC debugger as a device in the devices  region, which devices could connect through the CC debugger to appear at SmartRF Studio?

3- Is there any other options for programmers other than the evaluation kit you mentioned before?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards,

Here's a full list of devices which are supported by CC debugger.

The same answer as in question 1

There are. Here's one for example, though I would wait for an answer of someone from TI team, as I'm puzzled my self what is the most suitable HW programming tool (besides the smartRF06EB) for cc2538 devices?

  • Dear Igor,

Thanks a lot for your answers.

    I, really, appreciate your efforts.

I'll wait for their answers too.

    Best regards,
