Hi,

I installed smartRF05 packet sniffer, so along with that driver for CC2531 got installed. I also used packet sniffer for few days.

Yesterday, I tried flashing a sample application in CC2531 with CC Debugger. When I clicked on Download and Debug, I got two choice of device: CC Debugger and CC2531, when I clicked on CC2531 it gave fatal error: Unknown exception in driver. So I selected CC Debugger after that and it was downloaded and verified successfully. But after that my machine stopped detecting CC2531 USB dongle with error: " The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it " and the device status in device manager reads "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)"

Hi,

What about CC Debugger, is it recognized by windows, and you are able to download another FW to cc2531?

You can try to flash the sniffer FW back to CC2531 usb dongle and see if it is back. The sniffer hex files are located at C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\Packet Sniffer\bin\general\firmware if you install packet sniffer.

Yes, CC Debugger is getting detected and I am able to download and verify successfully the FW, but now IAR does not ask to select device option when I click on Download and Debug option, probably because Windows has not detected the CC2531 USB Dongle.

NOTE: The FW runs perfectly on SmartRF05 CC2530 board.

Hi,

Flashing the packet sniffer driver on CC2531 USB dongle did the trick. Now my machine detects CC2531 USB dongle.

Hello YK Chen,

when contiki-master\examples\cc2530dk\border-router code is dumped to cc2531 usb dongle. It is not being detected by Ubuntu. and it shows under other devices in windows device manager. Is there any way that I can get it as ttyacm?

I want cc2531 to receive packets where my linux will act as edge router. I am using cc2650 with smart rf 06 as a sensor node to send 6LoWPAN packets.
For the above process I dumped border router code from contiki examples to cc2531 usb dongle. But to proceed furhter with my project, this dongle is suppose to appear as ttyacm device. But it is not all being detected by ubuntu. While in windows it is listed under other devices when checked in device manager.

I tried dumping the code using flash programmer. But it is showing Error in hex file verification.

I got the program dumped to my dongle. But it is not detecting in ubuntu.
Is there any solution for this?
(while in windows, it is listed under other devices in device manager)

Try anther Ubuntu desktop to see if it works.

I tried initially with VM ware. Will that be a problem?
I'll try installing ubuntu directly and check.

I just test CC2531 USB dongle with my InstantContiki 3.0 which is based on Ubuntu running on VMWare and I see no problem on it.

Even that is the same thing with me.
Virtual machine is able to detect but, there is no change in ubuntu.
Check usb connected devices in "/dev" or type "lsusb" in the terminal. the dongle remains unlisted.

I do see it listed. Do you click "connect" when you move mouse on CC2531 USB dongle icon on the VM Player bar?

Yes, I did connect.
Which is the hex file u dumped?
is it cc2531-slip-radio_contikimac.zip? or the default firmware (packet sniffer)?

I mean to suggest you to run Ubuntu on Oracle VM VirtualBox instead of VMWare Player.

By the way, can you check your USB Controller settings on Virtal Machine Settings of your VM Player.

Do you mean to run the Edge Router on a Linux host and connect an CC2531 usb dongle (flashed as SLIP radio) ?
