OAD on ZigBee Pro - Slow? (CC2530)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PACKET-SNIFFER, Z-STACK, CC2530

Hi all,

Im happy to inform you that I got the OAD working on the CC2530ZDK with ZigBee PRO.

But, it takes around 45 minutes to send an image.

The bin-file is 240kb (on my pc). I'm not using any external storage.

I watched with the packet-sniffer and it takes >300ms between the sending of an image-part and the 'checksum' that is sent back.

does anybody know where this time comes from and how to improve this?

after sending  the checksum, the next packet is sent in ~30ms, which isnt a big issue.

  • Hello -

Because of time pressures, Z-Stack 2.3.0 was released with this behaviour as a known bug which will be fixed in the 2.3.1 release. The fix is in the NWK layer, so unless you are a source-code customer (or become one by signing the waiver) you'll have to wait for the new libraries in 2.3.1.

Thanks for your respond and the clear answer.
Is it known when we can expect the  Z-stack 2.3.1 libraries?

  • A few other questions I have:

Is the source code available for OAD or Z-tool?

(saw the name Z-Architect (A ZigBee desktop application development toolkit) coming by a few times, though I cant find anything about it on the internet)

are the .dll's free to use??

    any documentation on them?

  • The source code for OAD is in any Z-Stack distribution. The Application layer application and boot code is here:

    C:\Texas Instruments\ZStack-CC2530-2.3.0-1.4.0-S\Projects\zstack\Utilities\OAD

The supporting HAL code is here:

    C:\Texas Instruments\ZStack-CC2530-2.3.0-1.4.0-S\Components\hal\target\CC2530EB

And a document about OAD is here:

    C:\Texas Instruments\ZStack-CC2530-2.3.0-1.4.0-S\Documents\CC2530\Over Air Download for CC2530.pdf

I'll forward your question about Z-Tool.

  • Hello Lennart,

The source code for Z-Tool is not available for everyone. However, if you need the source code for Z-Tool, please submit a request to lpwsupport@ti.com

    Thanks

  • Thanks,

I've sent a request to lpwsupport

  • Hi All,

after 6 mouth i finally got an official answer from Texas Instruments (lpwsupport@ti.com)

"We do not provide the source code for the Windows applications ZOAD and Z-Tool."

Ok, but why do I need to wat six mounth to receive this?

    Regards,

  • Hello,

I've been testing to program OAD with the 2.3.1 version of Z-Stack and ZigBee-Pro. But it works only for the Coordinator. I tested with the End Device but it didn't work. A message appears saiyn that the Image has timed out. Do you know what could be the problem?

    Thx,

    Elian Lima
