I am having trouble with programming the CC2530 using z-stack. I have designed my own board based on the recommended connections and the CCDebugger is working. I am able to download a .hex file into the board. However, I am not able to sniff any rf communication to test my antenna(on board). I'm not entirely sure what functions I need to start an rf communication with this chip.

I suggest you can start from SampleLight and SampleSwitch in Z-Stack Home 1.2.

I'm not doubting this answer, however, I am working on a device for Smart Energy purposes, and through Zigbee, I want it to connect to a smart meter. So basically the smart meter is the coordinator, and my device is either an end device or a router. I will look at the sample programs you suggested.

I'm still not able to understand how to use the RF capabilities on the CC2530 chip. I have an on board antenna on the circuit board, and it's connected to the RF_P and RF_N pins on the chip. Any advice?
