CC2530 HA coordinator

I'm sorry I meant we have to embed the coordinator functionality. There would be no routers, only one coordinator and multiple endpoints.

So we have to embed the HA coordinator inside the CC2530 / 8051.

To get going:

1) what firmware would be loaded onto the CC2530

2) what firmware would be easy to port to the 8051

Let me clarify first. There is already 8051 embedded in CC2530. Do you want to download FW to use this embedded 8051 or you want to use extra 8051 to control CC2530?

I know about the embedded 8051 inside the CC2530.

From my understanding there are several possibilities:

- embed as much as possible into the CC2530 (Z-stack HA profile)

- embed the coordinator HA profile into the extra 8051 and use Anaren's AIR ZNP firmware in CC2530

Also, what would be good tools to start off? I already ordered the CC2531EM-IOT-HOME-GATEWAY-RD + CC2530EMK but there's also the CC2530ZNP Mini Kit and the CC2530dk...

Since you already ordered the CC2531EM-IOT-HOME-GATEWAY-RD + CC2530EMK, I would suggest you download and install Z-Stack Home 1.2.1. After installation, there are lots of examples and documents for your reference.

So (portions of) the ARM M3 sources supplied with the Z-Stack Home 1.2.1 could be ported to the 8051?

I'm sorry, I'm quite a noob on this but I have some real tight deadlines with this project. I like to start-off really quick and if you advise another kit / shorter development route I'm glad to take your advise.

Z-Stack Home 1.2.1 supports CC2530 and CC2538. CC2538 is embedded with ARM cortex m3.

I understand but my question was whether the sources are portable to the 8051. As you know the CC2531EM-IOT-HOME-GATEWAY-RD is based on the BeagleBoard (ARM Cortex M3). Are the sources for the BeagleBoard portable to 8051 or are they protected?

And the other question: would any other dev. kit provide a shorter development route?

CPU of Begleboard is ARM Cortex-A8 not M3. It is not possible to porting this source code to 8051. As I know, there is no other easy route.

Why isn't it possible? Ain't it written in C or is it protected? Or is is due memory size or speed?

What about ZNP / ZAP? Is this feasible within CC2530 and extra 8051?

It is not possible because of memory size. If you want to use ZNP/ZAP, I would suggest you using MSP430 + CC2530 which is the reference design from TI.

The reference MSP430 HW for ZAP is MSP430F5438 Experimenter Board. Do you buy this? If not, I would suggest you changing order.

The MSP430F5529 launchpad is already delivered.

The sources build well if the LCD_ENABLE is set to FALSE, probably I'll output the LCD info to UART > PC.
