CC2530 & CC2520 -- RSSI difference -- Same TX power

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2520, CC2530

Hi Team,

I have an application where both CC2520 and CC2530 is being used in a proximity sensing solution that approximates distance by RSSI.

The problem right now is the CC2520 and the CC2530 are displaying different RSSIs at the same TX power and distance.  Is there a way to mitigate this?  Why is this happening?

I have read in the data sheet that the RSSI offset is different by 3 dB, and I have updated the RSSI offset refisters accordingly but I still have this 12 dB difference.

Regards,

  • Hi,

I guess "There is no standardized relationship of any particular physical parameter to the RSSI reading." so different chips with different radio solutions has different parameters for the same phsyical RF sense. Use the same IC-s for a relative sense application.

The other thing, it is also depends on the antennas radiation pattern. In words with different angle will be different readings.

    Regards

    ST

  • Do you have a 12 dB difference if you measure conducted?
