Hello,

Do you guys have any special recommendation for the 32Khz crystal when designing with CC2530?

Have you happened to measure the the constant current in the crystal? I am using it just for the sleep timer but I would like to reduce the power consumption as much as I can

Hi Mario,

Please see the CC2530 reference design at http://www.ti.com/tool/cc2530em, you can download the design and there is a excel sheet with partlist that was chosen for reference design where you can get part number for the 32Khz crystal used on TI reference design.

The current consumption using the 32 kHz xtal oscillator is stated in the table on page 4 in http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/cc2530.pdf

Thanks for your answers, I checked the crystal from the BOM suggested by TI. I think I can take that one.

The current you're saying, it seems it's not included in the current of the PM1 or PM2, I wanted to know the current the physical quartz crystal consumes itself.

The crystal itself isn't a conductor so no constant current is flowing through the crystal. A small AC current will flow in the crystal but this is included in the current numbers in the table on page 4.

I see, thanks. I thought as it can be modeled as an ESR there was some quiescent current (30-70uA) flowing through it.
