Development using CC2538

I am considering using the CC2538 to build a mesh network system. What development hardware/software is required? Can the embedded Cortex M3 processor be programmed using a freely available software tool chain?

Hi,
we have a CC2538 development kit available which provides all the necessary HW development board and debugging tools to kickstart your development (www.ti.com/.../cc2538dk).
If you want to build a mesh system, Z-Stack Mesh SW product is the right SDK to download (www.ti.com/tool/z-stack).
Z-Stack uses IAR as development toolchain. It is the IDE that guarantees the best performance in terms of code optimization.

I was looking to build a system with nodes that wasn't so costly. The development kit and IAR are very expensive!

If you don't have to use Zigbee, you can try Contiki (processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Contiki-6LOWPAN)
