smartRF05 board can't be programmed

I have a smartRF05 board which needs to be re-programmed.

I short circuited pin17-19 and connect it via USB cable to PC, BY turning it on flash programmer identifies the board but does not recognize the firmware.

When I try to flash it with the supplied hex file

\usb_bootloader_srf05eb.hex

It refuse to do so by displaying :

Flash image overlaps with the bootloader

Even when I want to only erase the whole memory it doesn't allow.

I appreciate any insights.

Try the following steps from e2e.ti.com/.../866652

1) Connect P3 on your working SmartRF05EB (EB) to P2 on your non-working EB. Apply power to both boards. The LCD on your working EB should now display "(...) CC2511"

2) Start SmartRF Flash Programmer, it should show that you have a CC2511 connected through a SmartRF05EB

3) Flash the CC2511 with "usb_bootloader_srf05eb.hex" found in "C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\Firmware\SmartRF05EB". The yellow USB-LED should now be flashing

4) Turn off the working EB

5) Select "Program Evaluation Board" in the flip down menu at the very top of the Smart RF Flash Programmer window

6) Program the EB with "cebal_fw_srf05eb.hex" found in the same location as above

Hi YiKai,

It doesn't work...

1) I connected the working EB to the non-working via P2-P3. Working is connected to PC with USB. Non-working is battery powered.

The LCD on working is showing the regular genericApp message: ZigBee Coord, Network ID, it doesn't show CC2511.

The LCD on non-working is showing IEEE address of the 2530EM module.

2) in Falsh Programmer, it shows 2 devices, both have EB type CC Debugger, same EB firmware ID(05CC) and rev (0044)

I still can't program the CC2511 one, it stops and says " Flash image overlaps with the bootloader.

try to remove CC2530EM from SmartRF05EB and do the steps again.

Unfortunately it still doesn't allow that by showing

"Flash image ovrelaps with the bootlader."

I also checked votages on P11,13,15 to see if hardware is good. They are all ~4.4 volts.

You have to enter Board Identification ID number.

Hi YiKai,
At this point it doesn't even recognize the board. Is there a way to just reset the board and flash it?

1. Please remove the CC2530EMs from both SmartRF05EBs and try again. Please give me picture of your connection.
2. Please provide me the snap shot of your Flash programmer.

Thanks YiKai very much for following up.

I removed the EMs from both, but doesn't work. Also the Non-working is not recognizable by flash programmer any more.
I checked all the Jumpers .Voltages at P11,13 and it seems Ok (4.4V)

Please find below my setup. The non-working is connected to PC via USB.

Can you connect the working EB to the non-working via P2-P3. Working is connected to PC with USB. Non-working is battery powered? Take a picture and snap shot of Flash programmer too.
