CC2538 or cc2650 for the design of body sensor network

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2538, CC2650, TIMAC

Dear TI gurus,

I am new to wireless networking field.

I am looking to implement a wireless body sensor network.

My data rate of each channel is  high about 10kbps.

What is i need badly is time synchronicity among data channel.

I now checking the feasibility of using cc2538 based network or cc2650 based network.

From documentation i find TIMAC can be used for point to mulit point network in star topology. using synchronous beacon.

Please give some suggestions regarding my design especially since now i have to decide to buy the evaluation board one among them .

(CC2538 based evalution system or cc2650 based system)

  • Hi Arun,

I would recommend comparing the two MCU's based on their feature set and requirements for your application to make the decision. Please visit the webpages www.ti.com/.../cc2538;tisearch=Search-EN and www.ti.com/.../cc2650;tisearch=Search-EN-Everything to get more details on the two MCU's.
  • Hi Arun,
it depends on the application requirements.
CC2650 features ultra low power performance (it is actually best in class for low power usage). CC2538 has bigger flash and ram so can host bigger applications and has more memory available so you can have bigger static tables.
TI-MAC is a good technology in its beacon mode to have star networks. TI-MAC supports beacon mode so you can have synchronous operations.
    Thanks,
