Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2530, CC2538
We have a legacy zigbee 2007 network where about 30 end devices used to talk to one concentrator (also the co-ordinator of the zigbee nw). All the devices are based on cc2530 and are running zstack 2.5.1. We have another host controller on both the end devices and the concentrator and we are running a small modification of the serial app on the cc2530 devices.
Now we want to increase the no of end devices from 30 to about 500 - without changing the legacy devices. ( they have already been built for old application).
So our first option is to introduce routers ( which were non- existing in the legacy nw). And now, we would want to use cc2538 to build the routers so we can attach more devices to the router compared to cc2530 as it has memory.
Now the questions:
1. What is the max no devices we can connect to a router/ coordinator made of cc2530?
2. The legacy NW is run on zstack 2.5.1 (zigbee 2007), which is not provided for cc2538 on the zstack site now. we get a 2012 version of zstack for cc2538. Are these two interoperable?
3. We have a cc2538 eval board (the smart RF06 kit). When we configured one of the devices as a router, it was not able to log on to the legacy nw. We observed beacon requests from the cc2538 but there was no response from the coordinator. We have ensured that the channel and the security settings of the router match the legacy nw settings. Are there any more settings to match for them to be interoperable?
