We are very pleased and excited to announce the release of new TI ZigBee® Power Calculator Tool. This tool allows the users to analyze the system power profile for a ZigBee End Device design powered by products that are part of TI ZigBee SimpleLinkTM family. Through this tool, it is possible to assess the potential system current consumption and optimize the battery life of products by modeling end use cases and applications, to achieve the desired performance goals by emulating the system design choices. The tool comes pre-loaded with typical ZigBee® Home Automation application use case example, as well as it allows users to intuitively adapt to their own scenario guiding the configuration of system settings, stack, traffic profile and usage parameters as per user application needs.
This tool is attempted to provide a comprehensive means that will account for the most fundamental contributors towards power consumption; however, being a static analysis tool there is no attempt to model cycle accurate behavior. Approximations were used in multiple cases where appropriate, in order to reduce the calculation complexity. This was done in a prudent manner making sure that the effect on the overall result is negligible.
