Problem with SmartRF06 With CC2650EM and DoorLock Application.

Hi,

I'm just starting out with a pair of SmartRF06's with CC2650's and am trying to use the "DoorLock: Applicaition. I have followed the instructions in

Stack Home Sample Application Users Guide ( SWRU354 ).

I've installed both sides, started them up and pushed button 2 ( right ) to put them into EZMODE. Line 2 changes to "EZMode". It sits for about 3 minutes then both sides say "EZMode: TimeOut"

I note that the information displayed on the screens is a bit different from what is in the guides..

My colleague has replicated this exact same result with a separate set of Modules, on a different PC.

The preloaded software worked fine, and i got 100% transmission of all packets.

Are there any known issues with this.

Do you config DoorLockController as coordinator and DoorLock as end device or router? If possible, please take a closer picture on both LCD of your SmartRF06EB.

There is no provison on the Device UI, to configure it as a Router/End Device or as a co-ordinator. So, i have not tried or attempted to do anything other than push the Right button to put it into EZ-Mode. Is this something that can be done in the code?

Looking at your LCD pictures, it seems that you don't have coordinator in your test. Try to build SampleDoorLockController as coordinator and replace your DoorLock Remote to do the test again.

How do i build The SampleDoorLockController as a co-ordinator? Is this something that needs to be configured in the code before it is compiled?

I used the two projects and installed them seperately. I made no changes to the code.

this is different from what i have., i don't have those options in my code base. I only have ZstackCore - EndDevice.

there is no Router or Co-orindator.. Are you running yours for a CC2650?

OK, I see your point. CC2650 can not be configured to coordinator under SoC mode. You would need to use ZAP+ZNP architecture to make CC2650 act as coordinator. You can refer to Z-Stack ZNP Interface Specification.pdf in C:\Texas Instruments\Z-Stack Home 1.2.2.42930\Documents\API

CC26xx has only 128K flash and it is not enough for running application with router or coordinator capability. The design of CC26xx is extra low power which is good for end device. Maybe TI would provide new release with 256K flash which can run application with router or coordinator capability.

If i wanted to run these demonstration apps, on the RF06 boards, then i'll need something that runs as the co-ordinator.

I have a beagle bone with a CC2538? usb dongle, If i set up the Zigbee Home Automation stuff, will they work?

If you have beagle bone with CC2538, you can set it up as coordinator to work with CC2650. Is it CC2538EMK?

actually its a USB CC2531Dongle, ( www.ti.com/.../cc2531emk ) Sorry i got the part number wrong.. Is that useful?

Yes, BBB with CC2531 USB dongle is good. You can refer to www.ti.com/.../CC2531EM-IOT-HOME-GATEWAY-RD

So, if i set that up, My Two SmartRF06 Eval boards, ( with CC2650's ) will be able to join that network? And things should function?

Yes, SmartRF06+CC2659EM supposes to work with Zigbee Linux home gateway.
