can Thread stack + TI RTOS be a (better) alternative for contiki 6lowpan

Hi,

With a Thread Wireless Networking Protocol Now Available and some whitepaper available  threadgroup.org/Downloads.aspx

I was wondering if TI is considering this as a future option for 6LoWPAN as being an alternative for contiki?

I hope it will be at least better documented.

    Contiki is an open source initiative that TI fully supports, as it allows widespread penetration of 6LoWPAN as networking protocol and community driven development helps building great products.

    At the same time, industry standards for targeted markets (like Smart Home) are important and monitored continuously and Thread is one of them, and coincidentally it is based on 6LoWPAN as Contiki.
    We can't share more information on public forums but we'd be glad to answer any further questions if you contact a local TI office and we have an NDA signed.

    Thank you for answering.

    I am, too trying to monitor continuously what is happening and trying to stay in touch. I had an impression, that Thread stack will become an open source, but now I am not so sure about it. Need to wait and see, what will happen.

    I'm trying to familiarize with Contiki only recently, but it takes a long time, mainly because of the luck of documentation. The official website says "it is very easy ", but one the creators says it is "very difficult in some parts". The departure of Contiki creators (Dunkels et al.) into a commercial world (Thingsquare) puts some doubts about the future of Contiki.

    Furthermore, the main attribute of Contiki, being able to run on resorce limited platform is not that critical for newer platforms. For example CC2650 has enough memory to run TI RTOS and some version of 6LoWPAN with less buffering restrictions.
