CC2531 Which Firmware should I use

Hello everyone,

I have a CC2531 which currently is being used as a RF packet sniffer. I now need to use this USB dongle as a central node of the system. I have already talked to the semiconductor help and he suggested I post here.

My end goal is to be able to be able to use the USB port to write packets out to a specific node (CC2538) and read packets from different CC2538 nodes.

As far as I can see there are three options:

RemoTI

TIMAC

ZStack

Semiconductor help suggested that TIMAC might work but he was not 100% sure.

I suggest you use Z-Stack.

Which Z-Stack in particular to you suggest? I see several different versions: Lighting, Mesh, Home, etc. Also how will this effect the CC2538 nodes? Can they continue to just send packets to the address of my central node and look for received packets?

I suggest using Z-Stack Mesh 1.0.0 to do this. There is a GenericApp examples for both CC2531 and CC2538. GenericApp show you how to send "Hello World" message between two nodes.
