Router formation in zigbee network

Hi all,

I am working on a home automation project which requires of making a zigbee router.When i am compiling the code for CC2538 by selecting the router option from the dropdown of IAR Workbench ,it is not acting as router.It is not showing any PAN id for detecting the network.I am working on sample door lock controller.

In the code they have given that when devstate=MODE_RESUME ,than NLME_Startrouterrequest() will be called to form router.

So how could i make a router.

Try to disable HOLD_AUTO_START.

Hi Y.Chen,

It is still not joining the network.It is not detecting the pan id of the network.
I have tried by disabling the HOLD_AUTO_START.

Do you see router sending beacon request after it is powered on?

Hi Y.Chen,

No it is not even detecting the network.I am using CC2538 and there is no sniffer available for it.So i am not able to see whether it is sending some beacon request or not.
Is there any other way to check this.

I would suggest you to buy a CC2531 USB dongle to do sniffer.

Hi,

What is the api needed for the formation of router and which api is used for sending the beacon request so that i can put a break point over there and check whether the control is going there or not.

It will call ZDO_StartDevice in ZDApp.c.

Hi Y.Chen,
I found that these api and functions are used for router formation
NLME_StartRouterReq() ,ZDO_StartrouterconfirmCB().

So where should i call them .Control is going into ZDO_Startdevice and NLME_Networkdiscoveryrequest() is also called.But above two functions are never called.

Which Z-Stack and example code do you test? Do you modify anything on the source code?

Hi Y.Chen,

Z-Stack Home 1.2.2.42930 is the stack version. We are using example code for sample door lock controller and we are doing the router test with the original code given by TI without any editing. We haven't modified anything in the code.

You use SampleDoorLockController as router and which example as coordinator?

Hi Y.Chen,

Actually the code i have downloaded d from TI site is for CC2538 , the same code can be compiled as coordinator,router,end device seperately by selecting the drop down menu in IAR Workbench.
When code is compiled as Coordinator it is working fine but the same code when compiled by selecting router is not working.
I haven't checked for end device beacause i am using CC2650 for my end device.

The Zigbee foundation is that you have to have a coordinator to form a Zigbee network and enable permit join. Then, a router can join.
